CRIME WATCH UPDATE - SEPTEMBER 6, 2007

Greetings, Neighbors of White Rock Village,

During the past two weeks the criminal offenses listed by Police for our neighborhood included a theft on Bellingham Drive on August 25 and a theft on Londonderry on August 30. But
too many things are being reported to me that don't show up on the police report.

One of our residents recently reported an incident that had her a bit shaken up but not hurt. That's because she never opened her door during the conversation with a young Hispanic lady who asked for money because she had run out of gas a block away--and her friend had not shown up for 45 minutes. Resident did not open door to give money but did offer to call the police to assist her. This was not acceptable to this dark-haired, 5'4", mid-twenties young lady with a wavy-haired baby, so we can only suspect what could have happened. Yes, it's hard to not be able to help someone in trouble--but our resident did offer the safest way to help her.

Another report was from a resident who saw that a formerly boarded up door on a vacant house had been removed--leaving the house wide open for possible vagrants or drug users. Therefore, if you see anything unusual at any of the vacant houses around our neighborhood, please call 311 for Code Compliance investigation. Or call 911 if any action is "IN PROGRESS."

Those are the words used by another resident who saw three offenders snipping a large hole in the chain link fence to get into the cable company. The police responded within 12 minutes.

Other incidents requiring our calling 911 are those involving drug use and drug dealing, possibly accompanied by loud music. Also, please report time and location to Sgt. Steven Armon at 214-670-4762 at the NE Station. (steven.armon@dpd.dallascityhall.com)

Oh, yes, the crime map for "2-Points" Weed & Seed site showed a lesser total of 21 offenses during the week of August 26-September 2, down from 37 offenses during prior week.
