8-25-07 - Miscellaneous URGENT updates for HSCW
Please read ALL the information below...
The THIRTY-FIFTH computer replacement appears to FINALLY be a good replacement. However, I have not been able to add back all the files and e-mail addresses yet as that takes a lot of time and I don't have that much available time right now.
Please bear with me as my brother developed cancer in April 2007 and lost his eye. Since then, the cancer has spread all over his body. I have had to take him to M.D. Anderson in Houston and he has had two emergency hospital visits this week. With the stress of this and needing to address his needs first, I don't have full time for other things right now. I am still keeping up with the Crime Stats, but because of the computer problems over a twelve month period and my brothers issues, I haven't been able to have ANY meetings or contact people as needed.
I am going to have a meeting very soon via our Co-Chairman. I also just paid for the Voice Mail out of my pocket (due to no meetings we had no money to pay for it) so you can now get updates as they come in on that.
Until further notice, if you want to keep up with our crime stats, the DPD Northeast Division now has a web site where you can check on these weekly. Our Reporting Area is #1155. The address where you can find our stats is:
http://www.northeastcrimewatch.org/
Once on the main page, click on the link that says, "Crime Statistics". Under that link, click on "Weekly Statistics". That page will have links to each week. Click on whatever week you are interested in looking at. Whenever you are on the page listing the stats, look under the column that says, "RA" for our number, #1155. Keep in mind that these stats do not list vandalism, telephone harassment, runaways, etc.
Please e-mail me with any questions, concerns or comments you have. I'm checking online about every 3 days whenever I get a chance. If it's something you need immediately addressed, leave a message on our voice mail 214/967-4729 as I will be checking that a minimum of once each day.
Thanks for your patience!

BELOW IS THE UPDATE TO MY ORIGINAL MESSAGE ABOUT MY COMPUTER PROBLEMS. AT THIS POINT, I WAS ON MY 20TH REPLACEMENT COMPUTER.
I wanted to give everyone another update. I still haven't gotten my computer problems resolved. I have been sent TWENTY computer system replacements and NONE of them have been correct and/or without major problems. Replacement number TWENTY-ONE is under construction. As soon as I finally get this resolved and am able to get everything set up for the crime watch again in my computer programs I will let you know. In the meantime, leave a message on the HSCW Voice Mail Service with any questions you have.
Thanks for your patience!

BELOW IS THE ORIGINAL MESSAGE ABOUT MY COMPUTER PROBLEMS. AT THAT POINT, I WAS ON MY 3RD REPLACEMENT COMPUTER.
I know that several of you have been wondering why this web site hasn't had many changes over the past few months. The problem has been that I've had some major computer problems. I am at a friends home right now so that I could input this information on a reliable computer.
My entire system still had a few months left on the extended warranty I had purchased four years ago. I contacted the manufacturer and after many hours on the phone and numerous e-mails, they replaced the original system. Well, I'm now on my THIRD replacement and still have gotten anywhere with them. I just wrote a long letter to the owner of this computer corporation in hopes of finally getting this problem solved.
At this point, I have no idea how long it will be before I am back up and running properly, but hopefully it will be sooner than later. Once I get everything fixed, I will have to reload software required to design flyers, newsletters, etc. I will also have to input over 300 e-mail addresses in my e-mail address book again. So, it may take a little while even after I finally get a good system before I will be up and running like I was before.
We have also had a problem with receiving crime stats because the DPD changed their input system on sending out stats. The new system had several flaws, so they changed back to the old way. However, that has caused several long delays in getting that mess straightened out. Just in the last couple of weeks has everything seemed to finally be back to normal with the crime stats.
Sorry for any inconvenience this causes anyone. If you need anything or just have a question or want to leave a comment, please call our voice mail service at 214/967-HSCW and leave me a message. I'll get back with you at my earliest convenience.
Thanks for your patience!
