GENERAL INFO & ARCHITECTURAL CHANGES

April, 2008

All exterior changes to your property require approval of the Architectural Review Committee. This includes windows, painting, roofing, landscaping, fences, walls, decks, garage doors, storage sheds and additions. Approval for exterior changes is the responsibility of the homeowner to obtain from the Architectural Review Committee. Work cannot begin until you receive a letter of approval from the Association.

Please clean up after your pets.

CRIMESTOPPERS SERVES A PURPOSE

Earlier in the year an email was sent out regarding a home invasion in the greater Rockrimmon area. This person was arrested in February. What was important about this arrest is that someone called the police anonymously to report that they had seen this person. Because of getting the word out and an alert individual, a call to 911 resulted in the arrest of this person. Crimestoppers, 634-STOP, plays an important role in these calls to catch alleged offenders.

MOUNTAIN LIONS AND BOBCATS

A mountain lion and bobcats are among the wildlife recently spotted in our area. Please be aware and keep your children, your pets and yourself safe! And it is time for the bears to return.

SPRING CLEAN-UP & Garage Sales

The Spring Clean-Up will be Saturday, May 17, 2008, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The dumpsters will be placed in the following areas:
Allegheny Place cul-de-sac
Blackhawk Drive cul-de-sac
Grey Eagle Terrace cul-de-sac
Silver Spring Court cul-de-sac
War Eagle Drive North cul-de-sac
War Eagle Drive South cul-de-sac

Do not put hazardous materials in the dumpsters. Do put everything inside the dumpsters rather than beside it. Items that can be chipped should be put out at curbside and you must contact Jim Doukas, 531-0354, for pick-up. Other branches, boards, fences, etc. must be cut into five-foot lengths. Too much empty space results if the branches are not processed. Please be considerate and load the dumpsters properly and observe the hours. Do not overload the dumpsters and do not use if they are marked FULL/CLOSED. If you are removing a fence or deck or landscaping, please arrange to have your own private hauler. The Clean-Up dumpsters are not intended to be used for your big projects because everyone should have a fair opportunity to use them.

Everyone thanks the homeowners who live near the dumpsters for hosting this activity in their cul-de-sac.

COMMUNITY GARAGE SALES

The Community Garage Sales will be held Saturday, June 21, 2008. They will be advertised in the local newspapers. Signs will be posted at the major entrances to Comstock Village. The sales will be advertised from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. You put out your items at your own house. You put up signs at your house and on nearby streets directing customers to your area. You handle your own sales. Good luck to everyone for a good day of sales!

AFTER SALES DONATIONS

The Salvation Army will have trucks at Foothills Elementary School on Saturday, June 21, 2008, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM so that you can make donations. They will have tax receipts. This year you may also drop off hearing aids for the Sertoma Club, eyeglasses for the Lions Club, books for the Friends of the Rockrimmon Library used book sale, cell phones for TESSA and old towels, sheets and blankets for International Hearing Dogs to use in the kennels for the dogs they train to be service dogs for deaf persons. Pat Webb, 598-0560, collects these items and then distributes them to the proper places.

FireWise INFORMATION MEETING & CHIPPER info

As part of our continuing effort to bring our community into FireWise compliance, we will again have the services of a chipper provided by the CSFD during our Spring clean-up. Details are listed below. For those of you who are not aware or just want additional information concerning this program, the FireWise Office will have an informational meeting on April 23, 2008, at 7:00 PM at the Rockrimmon Branch Library. All interested parties are invited to this presentation.

CHIPPER PROCEDURES

Once again we will have the services of the CSFD chipper May 12-15, 2008. This valuable service is the result of your active participation and support of this valuable City FireWise program. If we had to pay for this service from our CVHA budget it would cost us $ 800-$1000 a day which is well beyond our means. They will chip your material at curbside at your address. Please stack your material in piles that are 6’ by 6’ square and no higher that 6’. Limbs should not be greater that 8” in diameter. If you have a small amount, please use your local trash contractor. Also, consider consolidation of your effort with that of your neighbors. No manufactured material, i.e. boards or fencing; only natural materials. If you desire to retain the chipped materials, coordinate with the crew when they arrive. We will be limited to 100 households (20 per day). Reservations will be on a first come basis. Call Jim Doukas at 531-0354 starting April 24, 2008, after the FireWise presentation but prior to May 2, 2008. This is the firm cutoff date established by the CSFD. As a reminder, please do not use the dumpsters for this material.
