PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Westerville Magnet School Program is a voluntary attendance program designed for students, in grades 1-5, who have a particular interest and desire to experience education through a focused curriculum in a small school setting. As schools of choice, the expectation is that parents desire and are supportive of this instructional delivery system and their children are motivated and have the discipline to be productive learners. Students with a talent or interest regarding Magnet School areas of focus and who enjoy working in a cooperative learning environment have had success in these types of programs. Students will receive instruction in all major subject areas (writing, reading, math, science, and social studies) as well as art, music, and physical education. Students from all elementary attendance areas are eligible to attend the magnet program Selection for the Magnet School Program is determined by a public lottery drawing. All classes are gender balanced.
MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE PROGRAM
This program provides children with a technology rich environment in which they experience and communicate mathematics and science as an integral part of everyday life. This program is located at two sites: Longfellow Magnet School and Central College Magnet School. Each school has one class of each grade 1-5, with approximately 120 students enrolled at each building.

WORLD LANGUAGES AND CULTURES PROGRAM
Goals for children involved in the World Language and Cultures program include: 1) furthering understanding of and appreciation for cultures around the world and 2) engaging in a Spanish language experience. This program is located at Emerson Magnet School with two first grade classes and one class each of grades 2-5. The website is listed below.
ARTS PROGRAM
This new magnet school focuses on teaching academic content integrated with the arts, including the areas of dance, drama, visual arts, and music. The program is located at Hanby Magnet School. Classes will be offered in grades 1-5 as enrollment permits.
