Prevent burglaries

• Close blinds and curtains so potential thieves can't see the things you have inside your house.

• Don't advertise new gifts or purchases. Break up the cartons before leaving them at the curb.

• Let your dog run free inside your house while you're away.

• Get rid of bushes, shrubs, trees or a tall wooden fence close to the house that could give thieves cover.

• Leave a TV or a radio on when you're gone.
