New Job Connection Service Created For Charlotte Youth
Goodwill, the City of Charlotte and the Workforce Development Board have announced the creation of a Youth Job Connection, a service dedicated to providing summer employment opportunities for Charlotte youth ages 14-21.
The Youth Job Connection serves both youth and employers in the community. Youth who participate in the program will receive free assistance in all aspects of the job search process and employers registered with the program benefit from pre-screened applicants ready to work.
Online registration for youth and employers with jobs is available now at www.youthjobconnection.com. Walk-in services will be available beginning Monday, May 19 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 4-8 p.m. at the Goodwill corporate offices (2122 Freedom Drive).
“The Youth Job Connection will provide tools and information to assist Charlotte youth needing to find summer employment in 2008,” said Goodwill President & CEO Michael Elder. “Whether through job placement assistance, resume workshops or developing interview skills, we will work to prepare our youth to join the local workforce.”
The Youth Job Connection was developed from the desire of the Charlotte City Council and its community partners to commit more resources to youth employment. The pilot program will be evaluated at the end of its duration to determine future funding and possible expansion.
