Precinct Community Councils:

Originally established in the 1940's as Precinct Coordinating Councils, Precinct Community Councils are forums that provide direct communication between police and community members. Council members meet regularly with the
precinct Commanding Officer and Community Affairs Officer to discuss and find solutions for public-safety problems in the community. This may include: sponsoring crime prevention and awareness seminars, hosting youth activities or starting a community patrol. There are 76 Councils citywide, one in each precinct. Monthly meetings and membership are open to the public.
