12-04-08 [AREA C] - PHONE HARASSMENT - 3500 BLOCK OF PARIS BLVD. On 12-04-08 between the hours of 1930 and 1940, known suspect has been calling victim repeatedly and threatening bodily harm to him and his mother.

October 2008 Activity Bulletin - Updated 11-07-08 with Summary
10-03-08 [AREA G] - BURGLARY - 5600 BLOCK OF BASHAW DRIVE. On 10-3-08 between 1938 and 1943 hours, two unknown suspects began to push victim's front door half way open while victim was lying on the couch. Suspects fled after victim called 911.
10-05-08 [AREA C] - THEFT/FORGERY - 3400 BLOCK OF PARIS BLVD. Between 9-25-08 1530 hours, and 10-4-08 1600 hours, known suspect stole a check from victim's checkbook, wrote and cashed it after forging victim's signature.
10-05-08 [AREA C] - ASSAULT - 3400 BLOCK OF RANGOON DRIVE. On 10-5-08 between 1900 and 1913 hours, unknown person started making derogatory statements to victim and allegedly punched victim with a closed fist.
10-06-08 [AREA M] - THEFT - 6000 BLOCK OF WESTERVILLE ROAD. On 9-19-08 at 1730 hours, reporting party stated that someone either stole his debit card or he lost it.

10-18-08 [AREA M] - DRUG POSSESSION - SR3/I-270. On 10-18-08 between 1622 and 1729 hours, Chase Jackson, 20, was charged with possession of marijuana after it was found on his person during a traffic stop.
10-19-08 [AREA M] - ASSAULT/RESISTING ARREST - SR 161/SR 3. On 10-19-08, between 1612 and 1645, Jewaun Hunter, 22, was arrested for driving without a license during a traffic stop. When the officer went to handcuff suspect, he began fighting the officer, striking him and head-butting him.

10-15-08 [AREA E] - CRIMINAL MISCHIEF AND TRESPASS - 3600 BLOCK OF PARIS BLVD. On 10-15-08 between 1700 and 1809 hours, four identified juveniles entered and caused damage to a vacant house. (The juveniles were caught and charged.)
10-22-08 [AREA F] - THEFT, BREAKING AND ENTERING - 3500 BLOCK OF STOCKHOLM. On 10-19-08 at 1730 hours, unknown person(s) removed motorcycle without consent.
**Details in the Westerville News and Public Opinion, October 29, 2008, as follows: At 5:30 p.m. Oct. 19 a 47-year-old man reported that his motorcycle, a 1998 Harley Davidson Fatboy valued at $12,000, was stolen from his garage in the 3500 block of Stockholm Road. The victim, who noticed the motorcycle was stolen after seeing his garage door open, said he believes it occurred early in the morning but did not witness the theft.
10-24-08 [AREA C] - ROBBERY - 3500 BLOCK OF PARIS BLVD. On 10-24-08 between 1820 and 1841 hours, unknown persons forced their way in with a gun and left with money.
**Details in the Westerville News and Public Opinion, October 29, 2008, as follows: Members of a family reported at 6:41 p.m. Friday, Oct.24 that they were robbed at gunpoint in their own home in the 3500 block of Paris Boulevard. A 17-year-old boy reported hearing a door rattle and when he looked outside, he did not see anyone. When he turned away, there was a knock and he opened the door. A man then forced his way inside and put a gun to his head, township police reports said. The suspect then asked the boy and his father for money at gunpoint while another suspect kicked the 19-year-old brother in the face. The two suspects, only identified as black men dressed in all black, then fled west on Paris Boulevard without taking anything from the victims.
Note: According to police, this is not believed to be a random act of violence.
10-27-08 [AREA C] - THEFT - 3500 BLOCK OF RANGOON. On 10-27-08 between 530 and 542 hours, unknown person(s) removed loose change from vehicle.
10-31-08 [AREA M] - THEFT - 5800 BLOCK OF WESTERVILLE ROAD. Between 10-22-08 1000 hours, and 10-31-08 1010 hours, a fraudulent credit account was opened with business. They had over $17,000 worth of repairs and have not paid.
**Details in the Westerville News & Public Opinion, November 5, 2008, as follows:
After denying service on Friday, October 31, for a customer that owed more than $17,000 in repairs, a business in the 5800 block of Westerville Road reported to Blendon Township Police that they believe the customer previously used a fraudulent account.
The business reported the situation after the suspect, a 39-year-old Westerville man, said he had no intention of paying for past service. The alleged crime, theft without consent, is a felony and an investigation is ongoing, township police reports said.

10-27-08 [AREA B] - ATTEMPTED BREAK-IN - 1200 BLOCK OF HIDEAWAY WOODS. A 48-year-old woman reported an attempted break-in at 9:07 a.m. October 27 at her apartment in the 1200 block of Hideaway Woods.
The woman, who was home at the time, heard two loud bangs against her door and asked who was outside. A suspect, described as a thin black male, around 5-feet 10-inches tall, 23- to 28-years old, and wearing khaki cargo pants and a charcoal-colored sweater, asked for someone who did live in the apartment and fled the scene.
The victim had difficulty opening the door due to the damage, but was able to see the suspect leave in a vehicle described as a newer, gray Buick LaCross or Lucerne, with a partial license plate of EMR, Westerville police reports said.

Recent thefts in the community have been the result of residents leaving doors unlocked or open (e.g., to let dogs out), windows unlocked or open, and/or garages open. Remember to lock up, light up, listen, and report. Let's make sure we do not facilitate thefts. If you see suspicious persons or activity, do not hesitate to call dispatch at 889-9494.

11-02-08 [AREA M] - THEFT - 5900 BLOCK OF WESTERVILLE ROAD. On 11-2-08 between 1705 and 1715 hours, two suspects entered business and stole over $100 worth of merchandise after causing distractions to the store clerk.
**Details in the Westerville News & Public Opinion, November 5, 2008, as follows:
At 5:05 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, a business in the 5900 block of WESTERVILLE ROAD. reported that a suspect had intentionally created a distraction so another suspect could steal merchandise. During the incident, one suspect opened a container of laundry detergent, spilled it on the floor, and reported it to the lone employee working.
Items stolen while the employee was cleaning up the spill were mostly childrens' clothes and a home stereo unit, police reports said. The employee was able to get the license plate number for the vehicle driven by the suspects, later identified as a 35-year-old mother and her son, listed as between the ages of 8 and 10. An investigation is ongoing, reports said.
11-03-08 [AREA H] - MENACING - 5300 BLOCK OF HARBIN PLACE. On 11-3-08 between the hours of 1505 and 1545, known suspect threatened bodily harm to victim. Victim is in the process of evicting the suspect.
11-05-08 [AREA H] - THEFT/BURGLARY - 5400 BLOCK OF HARBIN PLACE.
**Details in the Westerville News & Public Opinion, November 12, 2008, as follows:
Police said between 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, and 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, a known suspect broke into an apartment in the 5400 block of HARBIN PLACE. Items stolen included a television, clothing, and undisclosed amount of cash.
11-04-08 [AREA B] - ASSAULT - 6100 BLOCK OF BATAVIA ROAD. On 11-4-08 between 1300 and 1338 hours, known juvenile suspect struck victim with a metal object in the head. Victim was not injured because he was wearing a bike helmet.
11-06-08 [AREA H] - BURGLARY - 5400 BLOCK OF HARBIN PLACE. Between 11-5-08 1900 hours, and 11-6-08 1400 hours, known suspect broke into apartment and took the TV, clothing, and cash.
11-12-08 [AREA M] - THEFT - 6000 BLOCK OF WESTERVILLE ROAD. Between 11-5-08 0800 hours, and 11-11-08 0800 hours, unknown suspect removed a license plate from a trailer while it was parked in the parking lot of business.
11-15-08 [AREA A] - RSP/DRUG POSSESSION - DEMPSEY ROAD. On 11-15-08 at 1833 hours, Maurita Austin was charged with RSP and Drug Possession after she was stopped for a traffic violation. Vehicle was reported stolen and suspect had almost 4 grams of marijuana on her person. Suspect was slated at the Franklin County Jail.
11-20-08 [AREA E]- TELEPHONE FRAUD ATTEMPT - 3600 BLOCK OF LIMA DRIVE.

A Blendon Township man reported at 11:40 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, that he had received phone calls between September 11 and November 20 from people that said he won $2.5 million and a car. After receiving the calls, the victim, who lives in the 3600 block of Lima Drive, was told to wire money to various places outside the country.
11-20-08 [AREA H] - THEFT - 5400 BLOCK OF ROCKINGHAM COURT

A check for an undisclosed amount of money was reported stolen on Thursday, November 20, from a mailbox in the 5400 block of Rockingham Court. The theft is believed to have occurred some time November 3, township police reports said.
12-05-08 (report date) [AREA C] - THEFT - 3300 BLOCK OF PARIS BLVD. Between 11-23-08 1700 hours, and 11-24-08 0900 hours, an unknown suspect smashed the driver's door window out of victim's vehicle, stole the CD receiver, and damaged the console.
11-24-08 [AREA G] - THEFT - 5600 BLOCK OF SPOHN. On 11-24-08 between 0100 and 0500 hours, unknown person(s) entered parked vehicle and removed work tools.
11-25-08 [AREA M] - THEFT - 6000 BLOCK OF WESTERVILLE ROAD. On 11-24-08 between 1700 and 1800 hours, victim lost a bottle of prescription medicine when her purse spilled on the ground.
12-08-08 (report date) [AREA F] - THEFT - 5500 BLOCK OF OSLO DRIVE. On 11-28-08 between the hours of 1230 and 1400, victim [reported he] ordered property from Ebay. UPS shows that the package was delivered. Victim believes it was stolen from his porch.
11-30-08 [AREA G] - AGGRAVATED MENACING - 5600 BLOCK OF SANTIAGO DRIVE. On 11-30-08 between the hours of 2025 and 2031, suspect living at group home threatened staff and roommate with a box cutter knife. Suspect was taken to Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center.
