Pond Maintenance #2

All of the ponds in MF are clear, EXCEPT for the one at the end of Tara Court,

which frankly, looks like a cesspool.

Is MFMC doing anything to address this mess?

Pond maintenance is reviewed/discussed at every board meeting.  We have a contract with a company to provide maintenance.  We can certainly request that they look at the Tara Court pond to determine if something specific is going on there.

Here is my previous response regarding pond oversight:

The plan to control the algae and maintain the ponds fluctuates throughout the year based on weather conditions, etc.; however, the basic overview is as follows:

-Ponds are treated with dye and chemicals starting in April (depending upon conditions) and continue throughout the year, as needed.  These treatments are provided by a company with the appropriate certification, which is required.

-Last year, barley bales were added to the ponds in an attempt to inhibit growth.  This will not be done this year as the resulting effect was negligible.

-A resident has offered his assistance with pond oversight.  He is an expert in this field, and has agreed to be an Ad Hoc member of the Board with his primary focus being on pond maintenance.

-At this time, the addition of fountains will not be pursued due to cost and ongoing maintenance issues.  Aerators/bubblers are a possibility.  After due diligence, we will present cost/benefit information via the newsletter for community consideration.

Everyone can help to keep the ponds and surrounding areas clean by picking up debris and trash which can block the drainage pipes and have a general overall unpleasing aesthetic look.
