2018 Rosa Parks Farmers Market End of Season Gathering Set for Sept. 25

Next Tuesday, Sept. 25, County commissioners are invited to attend the 2018 Rosa Parks Farmers Market End of Season Gathering: An InterGenerational Celebration. The event, which recognizes the end of the market’s third season, will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. at 1600 W. Trade St.

The celebration will feature educational activities, food, entertainment and a short program from 5 to 5:30 p.m.

Partners in the market are Mecklenburg County Public Health, the Rosa Parks Farmers Market Community Advisory Council, Johnson C. Smith University, Charlotte Center City Partners and the Knight Foundation.

County to Host Several Meet & Eat Community Engagement Sessions in October

Next month, Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte will resume the Meet & Eat community engagement series at several County recreation centers.
This series gives residents the chance to share their views on City and County services to help shape our area’s future.

Each session will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Dates and locations are listed below:

  • Oct. 4: Albemarle Road Recreation Center, 5027 Idlewild Road North
  • Oct. 9: Arbor Glen Outreach Center, 1520 Clanton Road
  • Oct. 11: Sugaw Creek Recreation Center, 943 W. Sugar Creek Road
  • Oct. 18: Elon Recreation Center, 11401 Ardrey Kell Road
  • Oct. 23: Innovation Barn, 932 Seigle Ave. (Park at 1105 Otts St.)
  • Oct. 25: Ivory Baker Recreation, 1920 Stroud Park Ct.

Open Streets 704 Returns Sept. 30

In just a few short weeks, Mecklenburg County, the City of Charlotte and several community partners will hold the sixth installment of Open Streets 704 powered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina.

Everyone is invited to the event, which is set for Sunday, Sept. 30 from 1 to 5 p.m.

Open Streets 704 allows participants to explore Charlotte-Mecklenburg in a way that’s just not possible by car. Each event creates a temporary, linear park by opening the roads to activities such as walking, cycling, dancing and more.

The Sept. 30 event will feature a 4-mile route connecting the following neighborhoods:

  • Enderly Park
  • Seversville
  • Wesley Heights
  • Thomasboro
  • Uptown
  • Gold District
  • Wilmore
  • South End
