Great community and neighborhood events include logistics, marketing, and teamwork. Join us to learn tips and tricks on planning and hosting successful community events. Participants will learn about:
• Selecting an ideal time, date, and location • Reserving space at a County park • Closing a residential City street block • Advertising and promoting your event • Borrowing equipment and supplies on a budget

National Night Out
National Night Out 2018 is Tuesday, August 7th Register Your Event Now
National Night Out (NNO) is an annual event promoting police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. Organizations throughout Charlotte host NNO block parties, cookouts, porch sit-ins, ice cream socials and other activities to show their support of “no tolerance” for crime. The goal of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is to have 100% officer contact at each registered event.

Civic Leadership Academy – Apply by July 25th
The Charlotte Civic Leadership Academy begins on Thursday, September 6
The City of Charlotte’s Civic Leadership Academy is a free 11 session course designed for residents who are ready to take the next step in being community leaders and improving the quality of life in all of Charlotte’s neighborhoods. The Civic Leadership Academy will provide participants the opportunity to grow in their leadership, analyze issues using data, connect with decision makers and other Charlotte leaders, and make a difference in their communities.

Neighborhood Matching Grants Pre-Application Workshops

The Neighborhood Matching Grants Program has helped Charlotte residents improve their neighborhoods since 1992. The program awards funds to eligible neighborhood-based organizations for projects that make neighborhoods better places to live, work, and play.??‹

Tree Care Pre-Application Workshops

The ??‹Looking for Tree Care resources for your community? This workshop will present:
•An overview of cankerworms and the emerald ash borer & the effects of their infestation
•How to prevent their population from increasing to an unmanageable level
•How to complete the online application & grant reporting via the Tree Care Grant Program

Community Engagement Service Areas
Community Engagement Service Area Teams are assigned to four areas and work directly with citizens, neighborhood and business associations, civic groups, and other community organizations to assist communities with project implementation and area revitalization. This allows us to develop meaningful relationships in the community and understand the unique characteristics and needs of each community served.
