I read some of the posts regarding dangerous activities around the neighborhood , e.g., racing and loud music (parties) and I am in complete agreement that the neighborhood seems to be getting more dangerous. Not too long ago, an afterhours club on Fuqua opened and it stays open till 5, 6 and 7 in the morning. I spoke to a police officer at the telephone storefront and the individual seemed very unconcerned regarding my concern. I don't understand why the city issues "afterhours" permits. People have been killed at these types of clubs (on Telephone Road). Recently, a woman was killed at a club on Telephone Rd. These clubs serve no purpose. In addition, today I found out that not too long ago, the Dollar Store on Fuqua was robbed a gun point.

We agree with all you have posted. Sect. 1 is putting together a violation list to be signed by concerned residents. It will be forwarded to our Councilman Boykin and some of the Councilmen at Large. Harvey has brought a lot of problems and the after hours clubs are only adding to the problems. Please contact me (Ruth Scotton) at 713-991-0579. We need all the help we can get, now that the storefront police station is closed. |
