Last week a friend of mine was attacked on the corner of Silverlake Blvd and Rowena. He was walking from Blair's Restaurant to Endendale restaurant to meet another neighborhood friend. They put a gun to his head, dragged him into an alley and beat him severely. We think it may have been a gang initiation since nothing was stolen. If that was not bad enough, when he arived at the hospital, the police told him there have been some eight attacks in Silverlake in the last THREE WEEKS!
This was the first any of us have heard of these attatcks. I am posting this to warn my neighbors. I have contacted Councilmembers Tom LaBonge as well as Eric Garcetti about this and hope they will notify residents as well.
I have lived in Silerlake many years and remember when things were not so safe. I have relished the secure feeling of my neighborhood, but it is only as secure as neighbors will make it. Please take care of yourselves and if you see fit contact your neighbors and friends. Let them know what it happening.
