I hope everyone in Floral Park addition has seen the notice for a meeting to discuss the proposal to build a 6-unit building, on one regular residentual lot; i.e., 2103 SE Ellis St. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, 25 March 2008, at SMILE Station at 7:00 pm.
As one who has worked in the field of architecture/engineering for over 30 years, I cannot fathom the idea of putting six (6) living units on a piece of land the same size of mine which has a single family dwelling with a small back yard; lot size, 50' wide x 112.07' deep = 5603.5 sq.ft. This is approximately 934 sq.ft. per unit; or 16 sq.ft. less than my home, and that is based on property line to property line. In order to gain any square-footage, the structure will need to go UP^; it will be interesting to see if the proposal is for 2 or 3 floors in order to provide minimum space for each occupant.
