D.C. Has Lawsuit Over Painting BLM Slogan on Street

Posted in: Madison Park

A lawsuit is challenging Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser’s move to paint Black Lives Matter” in giant yellow letters down the city’s 16th Street near the White House, alleging she is violating the First Amendment’s establishment clause by showing a preference to what it calls a “cult orthodoxy.” | Fox News

Knowing how CDOT requires petitions and total public support to anything in Charlotte I was surprised myself to see how quickly our uptown street was closed to paint Black Lives Matter on the street at a cost of supplies and $500 a letter of Tax Payer money.

I saw a sarcastic tweet yesterday from one of Charlotte's City Council Members where he had been contacted about painting White Lives Matter on a City Street.  There was a indication that the council member might release the senders private info I assume in order that he could be harassed by people for his request.  The tweet said he threatens to sue city if he does not get to paint his message.

Then I saw a tweet related to the story another tweet that whites already have their street Stonewall, Trade, and Tryon.   It related to slavery.    I thought yes that is correct, but I am pretty sure there is also a Martin Luther King Street in uptown Charlotte.  So that moots that arguement.

Anyway, I personally don't think any art belongs on the streets.   The streets are for driving and not for messages not related to driving.  I also think if ever there is  messages painted it should require more input from citizens and not just a quick decision by a few.

Ok now investigating tire marks on a street you drive on?   Seriously.  Another reason the street should not be used for such.   Tire marks on on cross marks and other road markings all over the state.    Not saying this was not done on purpose by someone, but then again it is the street and vehicles drive up and down it.

This is so stupid.   WBTV Molly Grantham just said in her story on these marks that the street was shut down on Friday at 3 PM for pictures to be taken.   Then she goes on to say that it is not clear if the marks showed up before of after this happened!   Really Molly? If the street was closed at 3 pm I would bet money the tire marks happened before the street closure.

DO DUMB LIVES MATTER?   No just kidding she was just reading off a prompter and probably didn't know how dumb a statement was coming out of her mouth.

It was funny hearing her say it.
