STNA officers fall into two categories, elected and appointed, and serve for a two year term. We are actively seeking more people to participate as officers in both elected and appointed positions. If something sounds interesting, we urge you to volunteer for it! The only requirement for participation is an interest in your community and a willingingness to spend some time helping out!
How to Apply for a Position
Elections for STNA positions will be held in November. Residents will receive the election ballot via the October edition of the STNA newsletter and are requested to send in their ballot no later than November 8, 2003. In additon, ballots will be available at the November 3rd General Meeting held at the Capri Elementary School auditorium (see the Meetings section of this web site for meeting details).

President: The President is the chief officer and presides at all meetings. The Presidents serves as the primary contact and official spokesperson of STNA with members of the media, City Staff, City and County Government officials.
Vice President, Programs: The Vice-President is responsible for coordinating the informational programs for each community meeting and assumes the duties of the President in the event of the latter's absence or inability to serve.
Secretary: The Secretary keeps minutes of all regular and Executive Board meetings, keeps a copy of all newsletters, correspondence, and any other documents which are a part of the history of the San Tomas Neighborhood Association; and handles all correspondence.
Treasurer: The Treasurer administers all monetary transactions, and keeps a record of all receipts and disbursements to be reported at each meeting. Prepares Annual Budget. Files tax forms.
Member At Large, Publicity [Publicity Chairman]: Is responsible for submitting articles or notices about STNA activities and meetings into local publications such as the Campbell Reporter, Campbell Express, Campbell Times etc.
City Council: The Representative atttends City Council meetings, and reports developments to the Executive Board and the Newsletter Editor for publication.
Planning Commission: The Representative atttends Planning Commission meetings, and reports developments to the Executive Board and the Newsletter Editor for publication.
UNSCC Representative: Represents the STNA at the United Neighborhoods of Santa Clara County , a non-profit group which provides classes and support to Neighborhood Associations.
Grants: Writes and submits grant applications and all followup materials required in the grant process.
Special Events Organizer: Helps plan and organize special events such as the annual Ice Cream Social and the quarterly meetings.
Newsletter Editor, Webmaster: The Newsletter Editor produces and distributes a newsletter once a quarter. As Webmaster the Editor maintains the public web site of the STNA.
Assistant, Newsletter Editor: The Assistant to the Newsletter Editor helps in the distribution of the newsletters, and the recruiting of Area and Block captains.
Hospitality: The Hospitality Chairman contacts and welcomes new neighbors, and helps maintain an accurate name and phone listing for the master address listing.
Area Captains: There are twelve areas within the greater San Tomas Area. Each Area Captain shall serve as the liaison between the Board, the Block Captains and residents of their area. Area Captains are responsible for recruiting Block Captains; coordinate newsletter distribution to Block Captains; and cooperate with the Hospitality Chairman to welcome new neighbors to the community. In the event of an emergency the Area Captains work through the Block Captains in informing all households within their blocks as quickly as possible.
Block Captains: are responsible for prompt delivery of all newsletters, report to the Area Captain any important event occurring on their respective blocks and cooperate with the Hospitality Chairman to welcome each new family in the community. In the event, of an emergency the Block Captains shall assist the Area Captain in informing all households within their blocks as quickly as possible.
