David Kelly, President of the Magic Circle Neighborhood Association, was awarded membership status as the first member of S.E.A.T. in the "South and East Tulsa Vision...catch it!" membership drive. Mr. Kelly will be awarded a membership certificate for himself and Magic Circle Neighborhood Assocaition at the fourth meeting of the Revitilization of District 5 & 6 meeting on Monday, November 22, 6:30 pm, Martin Regional Library, 2601 S. Garnett.
"Mr. Kelly and the Magic Circle Neighborhood Assocaition are a very good example of the hard working dedication of all of the people of our area. When there is a problem, they step up to the plate and take steps to correct it. You don't hear them complaining...just quietly working toward a resolution to benefit the good of all. We are proud to extend membership to David and Magic Circle, as our first member. We are very privledged that he has accepted." Caroly Harter stated in a recent S.E.A.T. Board of Directors meeting.
S.E.A.T. has not offered membership into its organization since 2001. Since that time, the board of directors has been polling the area to see what was needed by the community. S.E.A.T. has just now become comfortable with who they are and what they have to offer citizens.
Membership will be open through January 15, and again during the COMMUNITY CONFERENCE. Don't miss out on your opportunity to be a part of the best little assocaition in Tulsa. Join today.

South & East Allicance of Tulsa is encouraging all neighborhood associations to become active members in SEAT. Board members of SEAT have been attending neighborhood association meetings, visiting business' and talking with schools and community groups in our area for the past two years in hopes to offer you an association with the qualities you are looking for. We believe we have succeeded in doing that.
We are working to establish good relations between the residential, educational and business community in East Tulsa. We are functioning as a service organization to help neighborhoods with assocaitions find information when they need is, help establish new assocaitions where there are none, bringing your elected officials a little bit closer to you, developing a network of communication between residential, business, educational and community that has not existed before, and helping the City of Tulsa departments serve this area of Tulsa with positive cooperation and results.
SEAT was incorporated in 1997, under the name of East Tulsa Mingo Valley Assocaition, and since that time, has served to foster positive growth in districts 5 and 6. We are recognized by local officials, state government and educators as a positive organization, and feel this connection will serve our area best if we continue to grow and encourage communication and interaction with involvment of our residents. Your membership is a step in the right direction. A voice of the people is always heard, but a voice of most of the people expressed with a positive attitude is heard and acknowledged.
Membership fees will be $10 per assocaition or group, $10 per business, and $5 per individual, if you do not have an associaiton to join through. We will be publishing quarterly newsletters (delivered electronically) which will include news from all areas of Tulsa. We cannot ignore what is happening in other parts of our city, because it all has a bering on our quality of life. SEAT is a member of several NA's and has a large membership cross-sectioning a variety of community groups throughout Tulsa.
Please contact us through our web site, visit us at www.tulsaseat.com or leave a message at (918)437-9169. Someone will be incontact with you within 10 business days with your requested information. Our fax number is (918)438-4747.
The City of Tulsa's Urban Development Department has agreed to assist SEAT and Districts 5 & 6 in becoming an active, safe, and vital part of the Tulsa area. Pat Treadway, Steve Carr, and O.C. Walker of Urban Development have been co-ordinating monthly meetings between City Council District 5 & 6 area residents, business owners, civic, communty and youth groups, religious organizations, developers and educational facilities. Each person is encouraged to come with ideas of pros and cons in our area. These ideas will be combined with others attending the meetings and narrowed down to make a list of priorities for South and East Tulsa. "This area of our city has never had an extensive comprehensive plan, and never one that encouraged all people living or interested in this area to give their input", stated Theresa Buchert, S.E.A.T.'s current President. "We are encouraged, excited and motivated by the response the past three months. It is our hope that people will hear of these meetings and decide to come and make an effort to be positively involved."
The South and East area of Tulsa has long been undeveloped and some would say, overlooked by retail and residential developers. With the other areas of Tulsa filling up and the threat of Urban Sprawl taking a larger and larger bite out of our sales tax revenue, South and East Tulsa finds themselves in the positive position of having an abundance of land ready for prime development. The ethnic diversity of the area adds to the charm and ambeyounce. Having some of the best and most affortable Hispanic and Asian eateries in the Tulsa area, is a secret that this area is ready to no longer keep secret. Where else can you get hot fresh bakery goodies at 10:00pm in the eve. And not generic tasting items...homemade taste that melts in your mouth. Mom and Pop owned establishments abound throughout the area giving us the edge for unusual and unique items. "It might take a little sleuthing, but this area definitly has items that no other area of Tulsa has to offer" a recent visitor from Arkansas was quoted as saying.
Urban Development and SEAT will continue the monthly meetings for as long as it takes to develop a viable plan. The methodology is that we devise a plan and take it to the City Council for adoption into the compreshesive plan. Then when funding comes available, we will be ready with all the whys and wherefores to submit our request for funding of our projects. A plan is also necessary to help potential developers see the assets of your area and that the community as a whole supports new development yet wants to be active and involved in their communities future.
Quality of Education is also a strong issue for South and East Tulsans. We are hoping to work with our local schools and the Board of Education to begin to build an awareness of the entire community as to the value of well educated students. Top notch schools who graduate well rounded students will help to make this area sought after not only by families, but by businesses wanting to hire quality grads.
The spirit of cooperation and the ability to succeed is a tradition with people of this are of Tulsa. These abilities with the guidence and direction of Urban Development will assure that South and East Tulsa will become a front runner in the competition for development and desirability of living choices for families...of all cultures. Far enough from the city to be quiet but close enough to have all the eminities of convience...that's South and East Tulsa's future.
