They don’t know we’re struggling with a global pandemic and can’t control when or where they’re born. They come into this world so very fragile, needing the constant care and protection of their mother. Sometimes, their mother is nowhere to be found, which was the case for a kitten who we recently took in.
One of our neighbors, who knew of our Community Cat program, was enjoying a bit of fresh air (practicing safe social distancing of course) when he found Tugboat (pictured above). Tugboat was so shy and tiny. Because he was sociable, we entered him into our adoption program instead of returning him back to his outdoor home after Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) surgery. However, we suspected that he had feline infectious peritonitis, and would need special medical care before he was ready to find a forever home.
Newborn kittens and puppies need round-the-clock feedings, vaccinations, ongoing monitoring, and lots of TLC, which puts an enormous strain on our already stretched resources, including foster families and staff.
That’s why this $80,000 Matching Gift Challenge couldn’t have arrived a moment too soon to help ensure our ability to care for precious animals during this crisis stays on track.
Thank you so very much for your continued compassion and generosity.
Sincerely,
