Staff Pick of the Month: Samson
Meet Samson! This lovable lug is an armful of snuggles!
Samson is very motivated by food. and is eager to gobble up anything that is offered to him. He is a good boy and we are continuing to work with him on his manners and understanding that not all food belongs to him.
He loves going on walks and the more exercise he gets, the better. He also loves attention and lavishes in hugs and pets!

HSC Spotlight:
Women for Animal Welfare
The Humane Society of Charlotte believes in working to improve our community by helping both animals and the people that love them. HSC supports women in our community and the strides they are making to improve Charlotte and the lives of animals here at HSC.
Each year, we recognize a special woman that has gone above and beyond the call of duty for animals in need at our Women for Animal Welfare Reception.
We are proud to announce the first-ever, Woman for Animal Welfare Award by community nomination!
We'll host our friends and supporters on May 15th at the Myers Park Country Club from 6 - 8:30 pm. Attendees will enjoy hor d'oeuvres, wine, beer, live music and guest speaker Lou Solomon of Interact Authentic Communication!

Thank you to our sponsors!

CHARLOTTE CHECKERS

HSC Transitional Pet Boarding Pilot Program
Our Community Outreach programming looks to support pets and their families. As we share what’s needed to keep pets in their loving homes, we simultaneously keep animals out of the shelter system.
In Charlotte, there’s a need for short-term pet boarding for individuals or families facing homelessness. Support is also needed for pet owners putting off their own medical procedures when they lack a support system to care for pets.
With the help of Maddie's Fund, HSC’s Transitional Pet Boarding Pilot Program covers up to two weeks of pet boarding. It also pays for veterinary expenses associated with boarding, such as updating vaccinations.
Our pilot program is there to support pet owners facing such transition or crisis. And, as we look to build a permanent program, we’ll review what information the pilot uncovered and learn what’s needed to best serve our community.

Do you or someone you know need help? Please contact Suzanne D’Alonzo in our Community Programs Department, at sdalonzo@humanecharlotte.org for more information. All information will be kept confidential.

Community Cats and TNR
Our community is amazing. Through the efforts of colony caretakers and their neighbors, 338 cats have been brought through our TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program in Mecklenburg County this year.
That means 662 free TNR surgeries remain for Mecklenburg County residents to spay or neuter the outdoor community cat population.
If you are feeding an outdoor cat, or know a neighbor, coworker, or friend that is, let them know about our program before one cat breeds into a multitude! To learn more, contact our Community Cat Coordinator at communitycats@humanecharlotte.org or 704-494-7717.
If you feed it, fix it!
