Setting up a Cyber Neighborhood Watch program

Posted in: Crime

In the Bronx, drugs are rampant and it doesn't take long before a once good neighborhood starts going downhill. I would like to see a network where people in the community can begin to connect and voice  their concerns and opinions. The majority of us work long hours, we leave our homes early and sometimes it is still dark outside as we walk to the bus or the train. Many of us do not know the new faces in the neighborhood, and when crime strikes, we only hear about it in the news, but too many times these crimes are too close to our homes.

I met with Samelys Lopez this morning and she is running for Female District Leader of the 78th District of the Bronx, and I shared with her the opportunity to link up with a site that would allow the community of 10458 to interact online in order to make our neighborhood a safer place. This should be also linked to the 52nd precinct.  Too many times the 52nd precinct has been called in order to report a theft, or something that has happened and hours go by and no one comes out. There has to be a way of taking back our neighborhood, while still being able to work, and continue with our busy schedules. It seems that most people will make time for Facebook, and if we could set up something that connects the community, it could be something that one checks on daily for a few minutes a day, but we could all share information. This might shed some light on some activities that we find dangerous in our area, especially that we have so many children.

I like this.  we are looking at moving to NV from MN.  Thank you
