When are Civic Club meetings taking place?  I dont see anything on the monthly flyer-I have an idea, but would like to be sure.  The After-hours club on Fuqua is still open-and I am sure most people dont care-until someone gets killed by a drunk driver leaving that establishment.  Mayor Turner and the Police Chief want to crack down on gangs and DWIs-well they should start off by shutting these places down and/or asking TABC or whoever to stop issuing afterhours permits.  I have been by this place (on my way to work at 5-6 a.m.)-and believe me, based on what I have seen, these are not honors students from RICE gathering at "VAMP" (afterhours bar).  Quite the opposite, but if you stay indoors all day and dont venture far from your front yard-who cares, right.  We also need community leaders to step up-either lead or get out of the way-JG

The Civic Club meetings are the 4th Tuesday of every month, and our next meeting will be January 21st.  Please come to the meeting and join with us in supporting our neighborhood.  Everyone is welcome and you are welcome to share your concerns.   Hope to see you there!

The Gulf Meadows newsletter is distributed monthly, except December and on the front page just above the President's message it ALWAYS states the date, time and place with the address.

After Hours Club has been reported by several people as well as the Civic Club; BUT with our very limited police force and the very high crime rate in Houston  it is obviously not a priority.

The Civic Club has a very limited treasury (800 residents less then 300 paid dues) and to take various area problems to court is beyond our treasury.

JG we would welcome you to step up and lead the way.

Thank you very much for your concern. Ruth Scotton

I work-sorry, cant step up, but if I could I would.  Recently, there was some type of an issue at the bakery-about 2 weeks ago-saw the police there early in the morning.  Would not be surprised if this was related to the club-JG
