For the second year in a row, we have received a letter from the Gas Co for a contractor they hired (Southern Cross) to have them come out and inspect all of the gaslines in the house.  This includes lines from the waterheater, stove, furnace, etc...

Has anyone else received such a letter?  I've asked a few people at work and they didn't get a letter. 

Yes, they are working in the neighborhood.

They were on my block a week or two ago and wear flourescent vests.

We have smelled natural gas around outdoors a few times and also have some people living on Clybourn.

Might have something to do with the sewer problemsand so much digging around in the streets???

I noticed them around the neighborhood too.  But this doesn't explain why we received the letter for checking out gas line two years in a row.  I just wanted to know if anyone else in the neighborhood had received the letter or had a gas company tech come out and check their inside lines for the past two years.

Yes my mother has had to have hers check for the last two years. In fact just this week. I told her to be leary but itwas legit, maybe it's because of all the sewer work that was done down here. Be nice to know if it's just this area or elsewhere.
