I have had several people ask in the last week or two details on our National Night Out.
I was asked to chair the event when we appointed Valerie Delby as our President in Feb. 2014. I declined because frankly it takes me about a year to put our previous National Night Outs together. Most of my time was spent finding sponsors to pay for the rentals, and booking / negotiating amusements. I would of been working on the event for weeks leading up to NNO non stop form the time I awoke to the time I went to bed.
I also did not think with planned changes of adding a new official web site for Madison Park that I could use our current Neighborhoodlink site to obtain sponsors as I had in the past. Our sponsors liked their logo advertisements, and links to their web sites.
So in Feb. 2014 the Officers removed NNO from our calendar.
I had said last fall if people did not pay their HOA dues that I felt the event would not happen this year. The main reason is our current officers do not have time to put into searching for sponsors, and doing the large amount of work it took to make it happen. .
Our NNO was great, and as most of you know we won a National Award last year. So we at least went out on top. It really was the largest event in the Charlotte area.
I will personally miss our event. It was something I was proud of for our community, and something that was fun for all ages not just children. Something that I worked hard on to try and have a good mix of entertainment/attractions, so it was fun for all that came out.
The Madison Park HOA will be supporting the annual Pinewood Fall Festival this fall. It is hoped that that festival will take on some characteristics of our former NNO. So look for details on that in October.
