Go Nuts for Wildlife

Martin,

Fall is the season for nuts! Many small mammals, birds, and even some large mammals, such as deer, rely on them in the fall and winter.

Plant a native nut-producing tree in your yard - oaks, hickories, American beech, black walnut, chinquapin, butternut, hazelnut, and pecan are good choices.

Trees provide food, cover, and places for wildlife to raise their young. Just add a water source, a couple more native plants (you can never have too many native plants), practice sustainable gardening and you are eligible to have your yard recognized as a Certified Wildlife Habitat.

When you certify, you’ll join over 252,000 gardeners across America who provide safe places for pollinators and other wildlife to thrive.

Learn more and certify today!

Thank you for all you do for wildlife.
