BARKING DOG

Posted in: Bonnie Brae - Greenville

Spoke to animal control in hope tha this post would help us.  Was told you have to be within 200 feet of the disturbance.  Being on the other side of the course means that even though you can hear it you are too far away to complain!!  It's ridiculous!!!  I live right next door and can't tolerate it and you hear it on your side and animal control won't help becuase you are too far away.  Maybe the HOA can help!!  Maybe we can figure something out.  Please email me!!

Thank you very much for your reply. I am glad that there is at least one other concerned resident out there. My wife and I are also dog owners. We have a small 10 lb dog, shitzu/maltise. We are responsible pet owners and do not allow him to roam free or excessively bark. I ran into the same road blocks as you. My wife contacted the police as well as the county and was told the same thing about the distance from the disturbance. I went so far as to take a drive into Bonnie Brae to locate the house. I think I know the street but unsure of the house. By chance I found this neighborhood website so I thought I would give it a shot. I sympathize with you for living next door to the barking dog. If I can hear it across the golf course then it must be unbelievably load for you. Since you are a resident of Bonnie Brae then I think you need to make the initial complaint to your HOA. I will gladly help you with this but I think we need to look at the following:

- Talk to your neighbors. Ask them if they want to do something about this issue. Get their names and address. Ask them to reply to these posts.

- Check you HOA rules and guidelines. I am sure there is something in there about barking and dogs must be on a leash.

- We need to keep a log of the time and date the dog is barking. You can make a recording on your cell phone as well. This is our "proof".

- Since you live within 200 feet of the disturbance then you can make the complaint to the police or county. Also, if you were bitten by one of the dogs you could have reported them.

Let me know you thoughts.

Thank you

I've contacted the police. We are outside city limits and they don't respond to our location about barking dogs. Left notes and tried talking to offending neighbors . One says that's what dogs do and the other no longer speaks to us. They are friends. I didn't report the dog bite cause it wasn't bad and used to get along with that one till her new husband and aaitional dog moved in with the barking dog. Now I have barkers on left side kept in yard and loose biting dogs and a barker on the other side. Had I realized what I do now I would've called police for bite. I feel like I look bad in eyes of Hoa cause I have called them in past but apparently I'm the only one. One of the dogs has been barking tonigh. If you can hear it. You have the right location. It's really hard being surrounded and being the "bad one" in their view. I don't mean to be but it's them who are causing all this. Many Hoa overlap. Is your Hoa run with someone called Charlene rice at Hoa community development on butler road?
If we both use same property Knut company it might be easier. I think other neighbors are afraid and don't want to get involved and I'd talk to the others but don't want to make more enemys because Im lucky enough to be surrounded by ignorance. Feel like bringing others into this will make situation worse for us. That's why I was so glad to hear from u. I found this post out of desperation as well.
