About Us

Meadowood Neighborhood

Meadowood Neighborhood Association was reborn in August of 2006 when a handful of residents realized that many concerns of Meadowood neighbors could only be addressed through cooperation and organization. It has also been documented that a neighborhood with an active association (voluntary or mandatory) increases property values and reduces crime. Everyone benefits when neighbors work together.

Since those humble beginnings, officers have been elected, by-laws passed, goals established and committees formed. Dues are $12 per year, prorated monthly. The neighborhood runs from Yale to Hampden, Buckley to Chambers and includes Meadowood west of Chambers. We are a voluntary association, meet on a monthly basis and welcome any and all who are willing to work and help make Meadowood an even better neighborhood than it already is. We have chosen to focus on the following three areas of concern:

COMMUNITY SPIRIT - The Community Spirit Committee was formed to bring neighbors together through events and activities to help create a fun, family-friendly neighborhood. Working with the American Legion, Neighborhood Watch and the city of Aurora, activities might include an Easter egg hunt, community garage sales, neighborhood clean-ups, concerts and picnics in the park. A newsletter and website will keep everyone informed about Meadowood news and provide advertising for residents and local businesses. Newsletters can be picked up at local businesses, at MNA meetings and will be posted on the MNA website.

FENCE REPLACEMENT – Like most older Aurora neighborhoods, Meadowood is surrounded by wooden fences in various stages of weathering and/or disrepair. It is unsightly and contributes to the general decline and decreased property values in Meadowood. It has been a problem for many years, and it is a problem that is not going to go away unless we do something about it. MNA is pursuing the Fence Replacement Program sponsored by the city of Aurora as one possible solution. Under this program, fences along Yale, Buckley, Hampden and both sides of Chambers would be replaced by masonry walls. We would choose the design among several approved options. An interest petition will be circulated, and if there is enough interest, the issue will be placed on the November ballot for voters in Meadowood (owners and renters) to vote on. If approved, the costs for the wall and landscaping would be spread over 20 years among all the homeowners in Meadowood and appear on their yearly property tax. If the home is sold before 20 years is up, the new homeowner will assume the tax for the wall.

ACE COMMITTEE (Avoiding Code Enforcement) – Everyone wants to live in a community that is attractive, clean and safe where we can be proud to invite family and friends into our homes. But creating and maintaining a community like that requires work and attention and care. Taking care of our homes and properties is something we do as a courtesy to the neighbors we live near and to the people we invite into our homes. But most of all, we do it for ourselves. Our goal is to help all residents of Meadowood maintain their properties in accordance with the codes and regulations put out by the city of Aurora. We’d like to help solve problems before they get reported to the city by your neighbors. This is why we are calling it the ACE Committee (Avoiding Code Enforcement). We would like to help if there are physical or health issues preventing compliance. We will be offering helpful suggestions and highlighting many wonderful landscape ideas all around Meadowood. For great landscaping info go to Colorado State University's Gardening Online Fact Sheets page at www.ext.colostate.edu (click on Horticulture, then fact sheets or just click the Favorite Link below). We will also be working closely with the Code Enforcement Department as the need arises. Let’s all work together to create a community we can be proud of!
