How does everyone feel about mandatory dues? I am compelled to pay each year because I like the snow plowed and I want an association that has my neighborhood as top priority.

I agree -- I pay -- but since it is not mandatory it is really up to each homeowner to do their part.

 

If we made it mandatory - wouldn't we then be charged to following up with those who fail to pay - do we want to spend our time focusing on that?

I'm not sure making them mandatory will help. I think a lot of HOA's get a bad repuation because of their collection processes and the pain they can cause. We have avoided most of that, and I think that helps increase the # of people who pay.
