Did you know if you don't follow the rules and bag your recyclables You are Wasting your Time! Not only that you are costing the citizens of Mecklenburg county money. It cost more than a million dollars a year to haul your trash from just the recycling cans from the Recycling Center to the Speedway Landfill. For the last several years your fees for Mecklenburg County have increased. Part due to the cost of running the recycling center, but also due to contaminants in the green recycling carts. You contaminants your recycling can by bagging items, placing non recyclable items in the carts, or dirty items in the cart. Those bags are not opened at the recycling center and go in the landfill. This is true even if it is a bag of cans. So do it right. Place only clean acceptable loose items in the green cans. No plastic bags and Nothing Bagged!
Remember Self Serve Recycling Centers and curb side recycling accept only certain household recyclable items.
Some other items can go to one of the full service recycling centers.
When in doubt PUT IT IN THE TRASH!
