September 2009 Activity Bulletin - Updated 10-05-09

Check this page weekly to view the police concerns and reports for our neighborhood.

Residents should always report suspicious activity to the Police Dispatcher, 889-9494 and emergencies to 911. Please do not hesitate to report.

This report lets neighbors know about issues that concern the community and communicates suspicious or criminal activity in an area.

If you do not see your police report below and would like it to be listed, email blockwatch@huberridge.org. It may have been documented as an incident by the police department and therefore would not be on the activity bulletin received from our police department.

08-12-09  [AREA M] - CRIMINAL DAMAGING - 5900 BLOCK OF WESTERVILLE ROAD. (received report late; included with September counts)  On 8-10-09 between 1200 and 1630 hours, unknown suspect broke out the front passenger window of victim's vehicle.

09-01-09  [AREA F] - ESCAPE/VANDALISM OF GOV'T PROPERTY - BUENOS AIRES/MADRID.  On 9-1-09 between 0012 and 0046 hours, officers were checking the area investigating the theft of a bicycle for two different suspects. After one juvenile suspect was found, he was secured in the back of a police cruiser.  While the officer stepped away from the vehicle, suspect kicked out the window of the cruiser and jumped out of the car.  He was apprehended once again, charged, and slated at the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center.

09-02-09  [AREA M] - ASSAULT - SR 161/WESTERVILLE ROAD.  (close-by crime)  On 9-2-09 between 0155 and -0156 hours, Charmaine Turner was under arrest for OVI when she was in the back of a patrol car and escaped from her handcuffs.  When arresting officer went to re-secure the handcuffs, she began to physically resist by kicking and flailing her arms.  Suspect bit the officer's arm.

09-04-09  [AREA F] - PHONE HARASSMENT - 3500 BLOCK OF PANAMA DRIVE.  Between 11-4-08 0000 hours, and 9-1-09 0200 hours, known suspect has called and keeps calling victim and either doesn't say anything or makes rude comments about victim's current girlfriend.  Calls usually come in the early morning hours.

09-06-09  [AREA E] - BURGLARY - 3600 BLOCK OF CARACAS DRIVE.   On 9-6-09 between 1230 and 1430 hours, unknown suspect(s) entered victim's home through an unlocked front or rear door and stole cash, a PS2 game system and games for the PS2.

09-18-09  [AREA F] - CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - BUENOS AIRES BLVD. RIDGEWOOD PARK.  Between 9-16-09 1800 hours, and 9-18-09 0830 hours, unknown suspect(s) used black and blue ink permanent markers defacing playground equipment at Ridgewood Park.

09-17-09  [AREA G] - THEFT - 3600 BLOCK OF SANTIAGO DRIVE.  On 9-17-09 at 1630 hours, unknown suspect stole a set of golf clubs and accessories, a gas pressure washer, vacuum cleaner, golf shoes, and tennis shoes from victim's driveway.

09-19-09  [AREA F] - DRUG POSSESSION/CCW - SR 161/PONDEROSA (close-by crime).  On 9-19-09 between 0217 and 0240 hours, officer made a traffic stop for driving without headlights.  The passenger was not wearing his seat belt and lied to officers about his identity because he had outstanding warrants.  After he was arrested, a search of his person turned up crack cocaine in his pocket.  The driver gave consent to search the vehicle and officers found a loaded handgun located in the glovebox.  Suspect admitted to carrying it for protection while selling crack cocaine.  Timothy Richmond, 21, was charged and slated at the Franklin County jail.

09-22-09  [AREA G] - ASSAULT/CRIMINAL DAMAGING -5600 BLOCK OF SANTIAGO.  On 9-22-09 between 2130 and 2149 hours, an adult resident of the group home became angry at staff members.  She sprayed hair spray in one of the worker's eyes and then threw the can striking victim in the stomach.  Suspect then went outside and began striking company vehicles causing dents, scratches, and breaking a rear view mirror.  She was charged with assault and criminal damaging.

09-22-09  [AREA H] - PHONE HARASSMENT - 5400 BLOCK OF WOODVALE COURT.  Between 9-19-09 2030 hours, and 9-22-09 2330 hours, victim was receiving harassing phone calls from ex-boyfriend's current girlfriend.  The threats were of violence to her by means of physical assault.  She was referred to the Prosecutor's office for charges.

09-25-09  [AREA D] - CRIMINAL DAMAGING - 3400 BLOCK OF KARIKAL DRIVE.  On 9-25-09 between 0000 and 0030 hours, victim reported that an unknown suspect(s) spray painted "Nasty" on her driveway.  They also left toilet paper on her vehicles and yard.

09-25-09  [AREA M]  - THEFT - 5800 BLOCK OF WESTERVILLE ROAD.  On 9-25-09 between 2230 and 2320 hours, victim left his wallet on top of his vehicle and drove off.  Victim returned later to the scene and found his wallet, but everything was missing from it.

October 2009 Activity Bulletin - Updated 11-04-09 with Summary

10-01-09  [AREA G] - IDENTITY FRAUD - 5600 BLOCK OF SPOHN COURT.  Between 10-1-07 1200 hours, and 10-1-09 1700 hours, unknown suspect used victim's name and social security number to obtain electrical services at offender's address.  Victim received a letter from a collection agency trying to receive $836.52 from victim.

10-03-09  [AREA F] - CARRYING CONCEALED WEAPON (CCW) AND OPERATING VEHICLE/IMPAIRED (OVI) - SR 161 AND STRAWBERRY FARMS (Close-by crime)  On 10-3-09 between 0205 and 0210 hours, officer initiated a traffic stop after the driver was swerving on the road.  Once stopped, the officer detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle.  Rodney L. Gant was charged with OVI and CCW after a handgun was found in the glovebox, and a loaded magazine under the driver's seat.  He was slated at the Franklin County jail.

10-03-09  [AREA M] - THEFT - 5300 BLOCK OF WESTERVILLE ROAD (Close-by crime)  On 10-3-09 at 1950 hours, unknown suspect pumped $20 worth of gas into vehicle and drive off without paying.

10-04-09  [AREA D]  - CRIMINAL DAMAGING - 3600 BLOCK OF MANILA DRIVE.  On 10-3-09 between 1300 hours and 1530 hours, unknown suspect broke the front window of victim's residence.

10-05-09  [AREA H]  - POSSESSION OF DRUGS/DRUG PARAPHERNALIA - 5400 BLOCK OF HARBIN COURT.  On 10-5-09 between 1800 and 1811 hours, officers observed two small marijuana plants and a pipe laying under a chair.  Three individuals claimed ownership of the drugs and paraphernalia - Rodney Davis, 20 years of age and two juveniles.

10-06-09  [AREA A] - TELEPHONE HARASSMENT - 3500 BLOCK OF TRITON COURT.  On 10-6-09 between 1530 and 2345 hours, juvenile victim received threatening text messages from an unknown suspect.  He had no idea of who might be sending them; however, they are threatening bodily harm.

10-10-09  [AREA M] - AGGRAVATED ROBBERY - 6000 BLOCK OF WESTERVILLE ROAD.  On 10-10-09 between 1210 and 1215 hours, suspect #2 entered the store and asked clerk for assistance locating an item.  Suspect #2 then removed a 4 pack of Red Bull from the cooler and concealed it under his jacket and exited the store without paying for it while suspect #1 remained in the vehicle. When suspect #2 returned to the vehicle, he was followed by the clerk who confronted him about taking the merchandise.  When the clerk attempted to retrieve the item, suspect #2 put the vehicle into reverse and started to back up, causing the clerk to be knocked to the pavement causing injuries to her shoulder and her head.  Suspects drove south on Westerville Road.

10-14-09  [AREA M] - ESCAPE/RESISTING ARREST - 5900 BLOCK OF WESTERVILLE ROAD.  On 10-14-09 between 1652 and 1824, Officer found that juvenile suspect had outstanding warrants filed through the Franklin County Common Pleas/Juvenile Branch.  During the arrest, offender struggled with the officer, pulling away and slipping out of his jacket and shoes and fleeing - leading officers to do a search of the area.  After offender was apprehended, he was taken to the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center and slated.

10-17-09  [AREA A] - THEFT - 3300 BLOCK OF VICKERS DRIVE.  Between 10-16-09 2100 hours, and 10-17-09 0545 hours, unknown suspect pried open the locked toolbox located in the bed of the victim's pickup truck that was parked in front of victim's residence.  Various tools were stolen.

10-17-09  [AREA A] - THEFT - 6200 BLOCK OF CARTHAGE COURT.  Between 10-16-09 1900 hours, and 10-17-09 1030 hours, unknown suspect broke the master lock off of the storage compartments of victim's company truck.  Tools were also stolen in this theft.

10-17-09  [AREA A] - BURGLARY - 3500 BLOCK OF DEMPSEY ROAD.  On 10-17-09 between 0001 and 0700 hours, unknown suspect entered victim's open attached garage and took a drum set.  The drum set was later recovered abandoned between two neighbors houses.

10-18-09  [AREA F] - BREAKING AND ENTERING - 5600 BLOCK OF BUENOS AIRES.  Between 10-17-09 1700 hours, and 10-18-09 1030 hours, unknown person(s) entered the vacant house and took a refrigerator and a stove with a glass top.  No means of forced entry was observed.

10-18-09  [AREA E] - THEFT - 3600 BLOCK OF PANAMA DRIVE.  Between 10-17-09 2130 hours, and 10-18-09 0900 hours, unknown suspect gained entry into the cargo compartments of victim's company vehicle.  Suspect(s) stole roofing guns an various roofing equipment.

10-19-09  [AREA D] - THEFT - 3600 BLOCK OF MAKASSAR DRIVE.  On 10-19-09 between 1400 and 1430 hours, victim's daughter had two friends over to the house during school hours.  It was later discovered that a laptop computer (owned by victim's employer) was taken from the house without consent.

10-21-09  [AREA M] - THEFT - 5970 WESTERVILLE ROAD.  On 10-21-09 between the hours of 1245 and 1330, unknown suspect removed victim's hair styling tools from the Ohio State School of Cosmetology without consent.

10-23-09  [AREA H] - BURGLARY - 5400 BLOCK OF HARBIN COURT.  On 10-23-09 between the hours of 0630 and 1715, unknown suspect forced entry through the rear door of victim's residence and removed a flat screen TV.  Extensive damage was done to the frame of the door.

10-24-09  [AREA M] - PHONE HARASSMENT - 6000 BLOCK OF WESTERVILLE ROAD.   Between 8-1-09 1500 hours, and 10-24-09 1215 hours, victim stated that a known suspect has been calling and texting her after being told repeatedly to stop all communications.

10-26-09  [AREA M] - BREAKING AND ENTERING - 6000 BLOCK OF WESTERVILLE ROAD.  Between 10-25-09 2100 hours, and 10-26-09 0030 hours, unknown person(s) cut the lock off of the gate to listed business and entered.  Suspect(s) stole and ATV from a trailer.

10-28-09  [AREA D] - CRIMINAL DAMAGING - 3600 BLOCK OF MANILA DRIVE.  Between 10-27-09 2300 hours, and 10-28-09 0800 hours, unknown suspect let the air out of three of the tires on victim's vehicle and then scratched into the driver's side door, "Don't rip me off."

10-29-09  [AREA M] - CRIMINAL DAMAGING - 6000 BLOCK OF WESTERVILLE ROAD.  Between 10-28-09 1600 hours, and 10-29-09 1540 hours, unknown suspect cut a three foot hole in the west chain link fence surrounding victim's business property.

November 2009 Activity Bulletin - Updated 11-23-09 with Summary

Remember to lock up, light up, listen, and report.    Keep garage doors closed when unattended.  Close and lock windows while you are away.   If you see suspicious persons or activity, do not hesitate to call dispatch at 889-9494.

11-09-09  [AREA H] - ASSAULT - 5400 BLOCK OF ROCKINGHAM COURT.  On 11-9-09, between 1645 and 1701 hours, victim and suspect were involved in a verbal argument.  Known offender then began striking victim in the head with a closed fist.  Victim had a bloody nose/lip and a swollen forehead.

11-09-09  [AREA A] - PHONE HARASSMENT - 6200 BLOCK OF CARTHAGE DRIVE.  On 11-9-09, between 1800 and 1900 hours, known suspect keeps calling victim screaming and threatening to call Children's Service to report abuse/neglect on his son.  Victim believes this is related to the fact that he fired suspect's boyfriend on date of report.

11-09-09  [AREA M - CLOSE-BY] - BREAKING AND ENTERING (B&E) - 4300 BLOCK OF WESTERVILLE ROAD.  Between 11-7-09 1700 hours, and 11-9-09 0830 hours, unknown suspect(s) broke a side window on listed business.  A 32" flat screen LCD TV was taken.

11-10-09  [AREA M] - ASSAULT - 5900 BLOCK OF WESTERVILLE ROAD.   On 11-10-09 between 1800 and 1815 hours, victim claims that know suspect (ex-boyfriend) was returning some person belongings to her at listed business due to a break-up.  While returning the property, the suspect shoved a shoe box in her face.  Suspect claims that he was assaulted by the victim as well.  Both were referred to the Prosecutor's Office to file charges.

11-12-09  [AREA H] - BURGLARY - 5400 BLOCK OF HARBIN COURT.  On 11-10-09 between 0700 and 1645 hours, unknown suspect entered victim's residence and stole a laptop computer, Sony game system, and a GPS unit.

11-12-09  [AREA M] - ENDANGERING CHILDREN - WESTERVILLE ROAD.  On 11-12-09 at 1830 hours, Amy Arnold, 30 was charged with Child Endangering after she crashed her car into two other vehicles.  When officers arrived at the scene, it was determined that she was the at-fault driver.  An odor of alcoholic beverage was detected on her person.  She submitted to a breath test and was found to have BAC level of .209.  The legal limit is .08.  She had her 9 year old son in the car with her at the time of the crash.

11-13-09  [AREA E] - CRIMINAL DAMAGING - 3700 BLOCK OF CARACAS DRIVE.  Between 11-6-09 1700 hours, and 11-13-09 1015 hours, unknown suspect entered the back yard of victim's residence and broke two rear windows.

11-17-09  [AREA C]  - PHONE HARASSMENT - 3500 BLOCK OF RANGOON DRIVE.  On 11-17-09 1946 and 2000 hours, known suspect has called victim four times on listed date.  Verbal threats were made and the suspect was told to stop calling every time she called.  Suspect also threatened to send someone else to harm victim at her residence.

11-18-09  [AREA H] - BURGLARY - 5400 BLOCK OF HARBIN PLACE.  On 11-18-09, between 1430 and 1600 hours, unknown suspect(s) cut the screen on the rear window of residence and entered through the window.  Suspect(s) exited through the rear door.  Nothing appeared to be disturbed or missing from residence.

11-18-09  [AREA H] - BURGLARY - 5400 BLOCK OF HARBIN PLACE.   On 11-20-09, between 0857 and 0901 hours, a witness observed unknown suspect carrying a 32" HD LCD flatscreen TV and a WII Gaming System to his vehicle without the consent of the owner.  Suspect gained entry into the victim's residence by kicking the locked rear door.  Suspect is described as a light-skinned male/black approximately 16-20 years old, with some facial hair on his upper lip and chin.
