HOLIDAY CANDLES

Why not put out a few paper bags and candles in front of your house on Christas Even and light up your street in a show of shared spirit with your neighbors? Make plans with them to go caroling (the little kids will love this!) and go house to house, ending up at a neighbor's kitchen with hot chocolate and cookies. What a nice way to say hello, make new friends of your neighbors and share good times during this special season. Don't go shopping, or sit home in front of the TV. Get out just for an hour and visit others, especially shut-ins (make arrangements with their family, first!) who can't get out like you can. Visit a nursing home and bring small gifts they can use (Stamped envelopes, stationery, cards they can send out themselves are always welcomed)and spend a few minutes with someone who is lonely and spending their last months away from family and friends.
God will bless you for your kindness.

Association History--Fill in the blanks

When Rockville Rd. was widened in the early 1990s, Garden City Christian Church members felt there was a need to organize a neighborhood association and under the guidance of Reverend Diane Zehr, did so.
According to old state archives, there was a previous Garden City Association in 1948! We have no history on this organization and would like to document it and add it to this site. If you have info or other history about the area we would love to hear it, see it and record it.
More about this period of our history to be added....

Association suffers malaise, regresses, then resurrects anew

After the period of inactivity, GCCC again felt that the neighborhood needed an organized advocate and approached former member to provide new leadership.
More to follow....

Recognition of Donors and Contributors

And thanks to WSCN and publisher Jackie Deppe for printing of our member's editions of the newsletter/flyer announcing the meetings.
We also wish to thank Storage Depot, Lynn Kelly and the Kirkpatrick Companies for their contribution to GCCA for storage needs.

Of course, we are grateful to the partners in 8 Seconds Saloon for allowing GCCA to provide funding for Garden City Christian Church's Summer Escape program by permitting us to use their property on each race day to park vehicles of race fans. They also contribute needed funding for several needs we've asked for on behalf of Thatcher Family Center including the Annual Harvest Fair
One of our adopted medians (the city has allowed 2 of 4 to be removed) on Rockville at Lynhurst needs a business to offer to maintain it. Our other remaining median at Mickley and Rockville is maintained by former GGCCA Board member, Richard Akard, to whom we are very grateful.
Thanks to all our good neighbors for their assistance through the years.
We also have ongoing support from the Wayne Township Trustee for use of the township facilities for meetings.
Westside Community News prints our quarterly newsletter for members as well as publishing our activities and meetings.
Dreyer Motorsports hosts the Wayne Economic Strategy for Tomorrow (WEST) Action Committee meetings every month with A/V equipment provided for presentations.
WTFD has provided the expertise of grant writer Paul Spurlin for our Revitalize Washington St. Project.
Many other individuals and business neighbors have donated all kinds of support, supplies, cash, and more who are too numerous to list, but without whom we could not continue our work in the neighborhoods we serve.
Please patronize all our neighbors and donors. They help GCCA operate and continue to work for you.
