Neighborhood Matching Grants Pre-Application Workshops

??‹The Neighborhood Matching Grants (NMG) pre-application workshops will help you think through project ideas, provide instruction for completing the online application, and tell you what to expect during the application and project implementation processes. Attendance at a workshop is required prior to applying for a grant. The workshop schedule is as follows:

  • Tuesday, July 27, 12 - 1 p.m.
  • Thursday, August 5, 6 - 7 p.m.
  • Friday, August 13, 12 -1 p.m.
  • Monday, August 16, 6 - 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 18, 12 - 1 p.m.

Civic Leadership Academy applications are OPEN – Apply by August 1

The City of Charlotte’s Civic Leadership Academy is a free program specifically designed for residents like you, Charlotteans who are ready to take the next step in being community leaders and improving the quality of life in all of Charlotte’s neighborhoods. The experience will provide participants an opportunity to grow in their leadership, understand how the City of Charlotte works, analyze issues using data, connect with decision-makers, and make a difference in their communities.

During the Civic Leadership Academy, you will:

  • Receive a personalized leadership assessment
  • Learn how to efficiently utilize your leadership style to positively impact the community
  • Enhance your understanding of Charlotte history and culture
  • Develop relationships with other leaders in the community and local government
  • Learn to navigate issues through local government
  • Commit to using your leadership skills in the broader community

Don’t miss this opportunity to enhance your leadership skills and to work with other leaders to create a community where every voice is heard.

The Fall 2021 CLA will be held virtually – participants must commit to missing no more than three sessions. Review the workshop schedule and apply online

Register Your National Night Out Events by July 23

National Night Out (NNO) is America’s Night Out Against Crime. This annual community-building campaign promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

National Night Out 2021 will be observed on Tuesday, August 3. CMPD strives to have officer participation at each registered event.  If your neighborhood or organization is hosting a NNO event, please complete this brief questionnaire to tell us of your plans by July 23.

JumpStart Community Safety Grants – Apply by July 30

The purpose of the JumpStart Safety Micro-Grant is to provide small programming grants to community-based organizations to help jumpstart efforts around the following themes:

  • Conflict Resolution & Mediation
  • Crime Fighting & Prevention
  • Opportunities for Youth and/or Parents
  • Family Stability
  • Addressing Racial Segregation

Non-profit and community organizations may submit applications for grants up to $5000 per project, up to $150,000 allocated per JumpStart Micro-Grant cycle.

Additionally, as part of this grant program, the City and non-profit partners will offer support and capacity-building training to ensure that the efforts seeded by these grants may be sustained into the future.

For 2021, projects ideally should serve one of the following zip codes: 28216, 28208, 28213, 28206, 28205, 28217, 28273, and/or 28212.

All Letters of Intent must be completed by July 30.
