Games Workshop trys a new spin on an old game: Blood Bowl

Believe it or not, Games Workshop has released new rules for their old game Blood Bowl for FREE in a PDF format from their websight. I have downloded and reviewed the rules and must say I am suprisingly amused. The rules are quite clear and easy to follow and as promised, 100% free. Of course you have to agree to their licensing agreement (that you won't sell or distribute the game illegally) but other than that there is no hassle whatsoever.

For those of you unfamilliar with Blood Bowl it is a form of a fantasy football game with orcs, undead, humans, high elves, dwarves and all sorts of races competing. You can make your own team and you get to be the coach.

Your team can have "All-Star" players or hired wizards to tip the scales in your favor, as well as cheer leaders and some rather brutal "Secret Weapons" to ensure your victory.

The best part is you can use pretty much any models you have that will fit in a 1"x1" square to play the game. (Or until you get some, bottle caps pennies, nickels, jacks or whatever.) The only other things you will really need are some paper, six-sided dice and 1 eight-sided dice. The rest you can really make on your own. This is just to get the introduction to the game out of the way. If you really like it and want the game here is the description from GW.

Also crammed into the box are the Blood Bowl pitch and the Blood Bowl Handbook covering the races of the Warhammer world.
