Halloween Trick or Treat

Posted in: Mansion Farm

Hi all,  I heard rumors that trick or treat is banned for our neighborhood.  I'm hoping it's not true.  Does anyone know anything more on this?

According to the information posted on the Delaware Governors website (https://news.delaware.gov/2020/10/02/dph-releases-halloween-guidance-for-delaware-communities-families/) "

Traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating in which treats are handed out to each child, without the modifications mentioned above, should not take place this year and need to be avoided."

This is not a Mansion Farm declaration, but is a state-wide mandate.

Sorry for the bad news, but it is NOT recommended this year.

The modifications are

"If you choose to take part in some traditional Halloween activities, make sure to modify the activities and take precautions to lower risk, such as:

• Wear cloth face coverings at all times. (Hint: Most Halloween masks are NOT protective enough to be considered face coverings.)

• Provide treats without direct contact. For example, you could place individual treat portions on your porch and interact with treaters from at least 6 feet away with everyone wearing a face covering or through a window. Make sure to sanitize your hands between treat handling."

So to answer the question, no it is NOT banned in our neighborhood or State. It is recommended to alter your traditional plans. Lights on YES, lights off NO. People on the Nextdoor app have been chatting this topic up and many have come up with great ideas to social distance and still have a great Halloween for the kids. Many will argue the negatives and the positives but it??™s as simple as lights on YES, lights off NO. Masks, sanitizer, social distancing and it can all work out.
