Many residents of are not yet aware that our Mayor Richard Pontrich has resigned effective the beginning of the next Commission meeting. An interim-mayor is to be apointed by the commissioners at that meeting.

He asked me to put my name in the hat to be interim mayor and to run in the November election to fulfill his unexpired term. I have agreed to do that.

It is now offical As of July 7 I am a candidate for Mayor. Papers have been filed and fee paid.

What do the Rules and By-Laws prescribe as the method of filling the mayoral position?  How soon after the vacancy occurs can the position be filled?
