Hello All,
Just thought I'd pass this info along. It seems that this might be a nice Focus Group exercise.
General Event Information
The year 2008 will be the 150th anniversary of the founding of Denver. Doors Open Denver 2008 will celebrate by opening doors representing "150 Years of Denver Architecture." Buildings from each decade have been chosen as outstanding examples of work by an important Denver architect of its period or of a characteristic style from its era.
The Denver Office of Cultural Affairs and the Denver Architectural Foundation will host the fourth annual Doors Open Denver on April 12th and 13th, from 10:0 am - 4:0 pm*. This free weekend event invites citizens to experience Denver's built environment in a new way - from inside many buildings that are not ordinarily, or are only partially, open to the public. Each year Doors Open Denver has become a bigger success. Highlights from the 2007 event included over 40,000 building visits to 79 buildings; 65 "sold out" expert tours attended by over 1,200 people; and fun, family programming in several locations.
Doors Open Denver information is available at www.denvergov.org/doorsopendenver or by calling 303-282-5073. Guests may choose from a wide variety of Urban Adventures (self-guided themed tours), Expert Tours (a limited number of free tickets are available at Union Station the day of the tour) or may design their own individual tours (based on location, architect or year of construction) from the web site.
*Please note: site days and hours may vary.
This is your oppurtunity to see some of the architecture that has made Denver great. I encurage you to get out to see even a few of these buildings, and take notes or pictures that will inspire you in what you'd like to see in your TOD master plan.
