Milwaukee police warn you about scam artists who are posing as charity fundraisers. Authorities say these scammers are wearing "Independence First" t-shirts and knocking on doors and asking for money on the city's northwest side.

"Independence First" is a legitimate not-for-profit charity that helps people with disabilities. It's been around for three decades and relies heavily on donations from the public. But the charity does not to door-to-door fundraising.

Police say if confronted with someone who's asking for money, you should always ask for a picture ID and agency phone numbers. They say a t-shirt with a logo is not enough.
