Yard Sign Compliance Guidelines

Hello Neighbors,
Our fantastic code enforcement officer, Dennis Whittington, has been swamped with complaints about yard signs. It is not about the content but, the placement of them.
Please, keep showing your support to the organizations, candidates and causes you champion, however please, be in compliance with all ordinances.
Signs must be 11' from the curb and out of the right-of-way on the street side of your property. This goes for yard waste before pick-up day, trash and recycle cans and yard signs.
Here is what Dennis sent me...

Sign Ordinance  10-141

Signs are restricted in the following locations:
  • Within any public rights-of??‹-way or on public property
  • Within 11 feet of the edge of the pavement of any road, street or alley
  • On any post, pole, tree, tree stake or guard, shrub, fire hydrant or anything else within 11 feet of the
Code Enforcement personnel or their designees have the authority to summarily remove any notice, sign or written material found in violation of the above.
Penalties:
  • $100 per sign
We want to be good and responsible neighbors. Please, spread the word and keep those signs safe and legal so your show of support can continue uninterrupted.
Also, remember our monthly meeting in Madison Central Park tonight at 7:00. Bring something to sit on and your face mask.

Thanks
