Got Covid-19? NO RECYCLING In Meck 4 U

Posted in: Madison Park

If anyone in your household test positive for Covid-19 remember you are NOT to Recycle during your illness.

Mecklenburg Solid Waste Service wants EVERYTHING Both Trash and Recycling to go in double tied trash bags and placed in your TRASH Roll Out only.

This is to prevent exposing workers in the recycling centers to Covid-19 from contamination on your recycling items.

Always remember that when you are Recycling Never Bag anything in that Green Roll Cart.   It causes the items to be thrown away regardless of what is inside the bag.  That adds around 1.6 Million to the cost of Recycling in Mecklenburg county as 1 in 5 items in your cart end up being hauled to the Speedway Landfill because it does not belong.   Not to mention extra cost of break downs to recycling equipment.   Then you can also add in fires caused by batteries catching fire.   NO BATTERIES in Trash of Recycling.   Mecklenburg Solid Waste has had about 1/2 Dozen fires this year due to batteries.

Do not go by the recycling numbers on the bottom of items.    That program is no longer accurate for Mecklenburg County recycling.

Only Plastic bottles with Necks.    No wide mouth plastics.  No clam shell plastics.  No neck trash it.  If it has a pump on the plastic bottle trash it or remove the pump to recycle it.
