Ceenta Employee in Eye Dept. Test Postive @ South Park Charlotte Office

Posted in: Madison Park

To all CEENTA patients:

We learned late today that one of our employees tested positive for the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. The employee works at our SouthPark location in the Eye Department, and has not been at work since Wednesday, March 25.  At this time, to our knowledge, no one else has tested positive. The employee is doing well at home.

CEENTA is aware and are taking action to minimize further exposure to additional CEENTA employees as well as patients.

Any staff or patients who have been in close contact with any staff or patient who has been tested and confirmed positive, should self-monitor at home for a minimum of 14 days. In addition to this communication, patients who came in contact with this individual will be contacted.

Self-monitoring includes checking their temperature twice daily and being alert for symptoms, which include:

  • Fever or chills
  • A cough and/or shortness of breath
  • Other signs of respiratory illness

People should follow these steps if they believe they have the above symptoms:

  • If you need in-person care, call before you arrive at your doctor's office or the hospital. This will allow them to prepare for your visit and take any necessary safety steps.
  • Consider going to your primary care provider before going to the emergency room. Many healthcare providers also provide virtual visits so you can see a doctor without leaving your home.
  • Only a healthcare professional, such as your primary care physician, can approve you for coronavirus testing.
  • If testing is necessary, your healthcare provider will make arrangements then.

Please review the coronavirus symptoms above before seeking medical care. If you do not have these symptoms, consider delaying your doctor visit. This allows healthcare providers to focus on patients who need coronavirus treatment and minimizes your exposure to the disease.

Remember, COVID19 is transmitted by droplet, it is NOT airborne. It can be transmitted if you are directly coughed or sneezed upon, or if you touch a surface that has been contaminated in such a way and then touch your eyes, nose, mouth.  Distancing, frequent hand washing, and continuous disinfection of surfaces will decrease the transmission if done consistently.

CEENTA will continue to follow the regulations implemented since the beginning of this outbreak. We are:

  • Keeping our rooms clean through enhanced cleaning processes.
  • Asking patients to bring only one person with them to their appointment if necessary.
  • Assessing patients for COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Limiting the number of vendors and outside visitors at CEENTA properties.
  • Restricting business-related travel and discouraging personal travel to areas where states of emergency have been declared.
  • Asking all providers and staff returning from locations where a state of emergency has been declared to self-monitor for 14 days and self-quarantine for 14 days if necessary. CEENTA providers and staff returning from any area identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a risk assessment Level 3 or 2 are required to self-quarantine for 14 days.

We will continue to monitor this situation closely and will work as hard as possible to ensure the continued health and safety of this employee and all staff members and patients.
